England captain Harry Kane will start against the Republic of Ireland on Sunday, having been dropped for Thursday's win against Greece.
"It's not the first time I have been a sub for England. Since Lee has been in charge, I have only played one game per camp," he said.
"I always want to start every game, I have never shied away from that, we're in a tough stage of the season.
"But whenever called upon, I will always give my all for the team, whether it's off the bench or starting, I will always give my ultimate effort."
Carsley confirmed after Thursday's 3-0 win against Greece that Kane would start against the Republic, having been surprisingly named among the substitutes in Athens.
"With Harry Kane you always think goals, but he brings a lot more to the squad and the team than that," Carsley said.
"His leadership skills, he's a good guy, which is really important as well.
"The example he sets to our younger players. He's a crucial part of the England team and moving forward and I'm looking forward to seeing him again tomorrow."
