Lee Carsley has indicated Kyle Walker is likely to start at the centre of England's defence for the visit of Republic of Ireland.
Ezri Konsa came off against Greece and misses Sunday's game at Wembley after becoming the 10th withdrawal from the camp leaving Carsley's central defensive options depleted.
"We've still got Kyle who can play there," Carsley told reporters ahed of his last game in interim charge.
"He went there the other night and did really well.
"Lewis (Hall) went to left-back, which is a brilliant plus for us. He is a player i have seen a lot of, not only with the U21 but also playing for Newcastle.
"We've got Taylor Harwood-Bellis, England U21 captain, and we've also got Jarell Quansah, so we've got options there.
"I think we just need to get the balance right. Experience will be key in that position and that's what we'll start with."
