Ezri Konsa is looking forward to what he expects will be a “tough” FA Cup quarter-final meeting with Preston North End on Sunday.
Unai Emery’s side travel to Deepdale to take on the Championship outfit, having put together three-straight victories at home so far in this season’s competition.
The England defender knows the clash will not be an easy game as far as the Villans are concerned, but is determined to set up a semi-final trip to Wembley.
“Really looking forward to it,” he said.
“It’s going to be a tough game on Sunday. We know that there’s no easy games in football.
“We have to go into the game focused, and everyone at 100%, and hopefully get the job done and go to Wembley.”
Speaking on Preston and their run to the quarter-finals, Konsa added: “It shows that they’re here to win as well. They’ve beaten teams prior, that’s why they’re here.
“I’m sure they’re going to go into the game thinking that they can beat us, so it’s going to be a real tough game. I’ve played there before, and I know how tough it is.”
Having been at the club for well over five years, Konsa is determined to help deliver success for the Villa faithful, in the form of lifting the historic trophy for the first time since 1957.
The 27-year-old concluded: “It would be amazing. As players, you want to win trophies at the club that you’re playing for.
“I’ve been here for (almost) six years now, and it’s always been a dream of mine to bring some silverware back home for this club. Hopefully, this year is the year.
“To bring Aston Villa to the semi-final of the FA Cup would be really special, not just for me, but for the fans as well.”
