Valverde gave his thoughts on Real Madrid's victory in Leganés. The Uruguayan, who captained the side for the first time and scored a great free-kick, told Realmadrid TV: "I'll remember the win, the three points and the fact that we're getting closer and closer to the top of the table. I'm happy to fulfil a dream. My family and I always had this dream of being captain of this great club. I'm really pleased, proud and happy to represent Madrid like this".
"It's a very special day for me today. I'll always be grateful to all the captains who have been at this club for as long as I've been here because they've always transmitted these values and codes to the players who came from other countries. It's an honour for me to represent this institution and I always want to thank them for the help they have given me".
His goal
"I'm delighted to be able to keep scoring goals for this team. It's the coach's fault because he always encourages me to score and fills me with confidence. I've seen the celebration in the NFL and it came out like that".
Fullback
"It's always easier when the team and the coaching staff are behind you. I tried to do my best as I do in every training session and in every game. I try to look at what Carvajal and Lucas Vázquez are doing in that position to learn from them. The important thing is to keep contributing to the team".
