Greece secured promotion to the UEFA Nations League (UNL) top flight for the first time with a 3-0 win in Scotland, overturning a one-goal deficit to keep their sixth clean sheet in nine matches and relegate their opponents to the B section.
Scotland showed no signs of nerves early on at Hampden Park and it was not long before the hosts had the first shot on target of the game when Scott McTominay, the match-winner in Piraeus on Thursday, forced Konstantinos Tzolakis into a save after being played in by Kenny McLean.
Against the run of play, however, the visitors took the lead on 20 minutes when Craig Gordon's long goal-kick was cleared before Konstantinos Karetsas found Georgios Vagiannidis, whose cutback was brilliantly met by Giannis Konstantelias in space.
Tzolakis rose to his feet to deny John McGinn just after the half-hour mark, but otherwise Greece kept Scotland at arm's length until the break.
Ryan Christie's errant clearance allowed Ivan Jovanovic's side to regain possession and they moved forward, with Dimitris Giannoulis picking out Konstantelias with a square pass.
The opening goalscorer must have been tempted to double his tally for the night, but instead he made the sensible choice of laying the ball off to 17-year-old Karasetas, who curled home with aplomb.
Steve Clarke will have wanted to send out a few messages at the break, but whatever he said did not work as Scotland conceded again within 13 seconds of the restart.
Another poor pass from Christie was intercepted by Konstantelias and the statuesque defender allowed the Greek attacking midfielder to find Christos Tzolis, who had all the time in the world to slot past Craig Gordon.
Karetsas was not far away from making it 4-0, as the home fans voiced their displeasure at both what they were witnessing and the introduction of Billy Gilmour, who was taken off as part of Clarke's triple substitution.
Although the trio's introduction brought some improvement from Scotland, John Souttar's clearance off the line from Vangelis Pavlidis' dink prevented the scoreline from being even more emphatic, while Lewis Ferguson, one of the new trio, was fortunate not to have been sent off for several cynical challenges.
In a contest that has faded somewhat, only three of Greece's last 19 internationals have seen both teams score in normal time, and they will now head into the summer with a spring in their step ahead of friendlies against Slovakia and Bulgaria, while the mood in the Scotland camp could not be more different.
