Georgia secured their League B status in the UEFA Nations League (UNL) in style, crushing Armenia 6-1 (9-1 Agg) to begin new coach John van 't Schip's reign with two successive defeats.

Trailing 3-0 from the first leg, Armenia's hopes of a comeback were slim and the game quickly became a damage limitation exercise thanks to some clinical finishing from the hosts.

Georgia needed just four minutes to open the scoring when Giorgi Tsitaishvili's cross found Otar Kiteishvili, whose shot deflected off Varazdat Haroyan and in off the post.

Georges Mikautadze doubled the lead 10 minutes later with a calm finish into the bottom corner, before Giorgi Chakvetadze made it 3-0 with another superb finish on 23 minutes.

The shellshocked Armenian defence began to implode as the half wore on and paid the price when they gave the ball away to their talisman Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, whose perfectly weighted ball was slotted home by Kiteishvili.

The goals kept coming and the home side made it five on 35 minutes when Mikautadze latched onto a loose backpass and, brimming with confidence, effortlessly lifted the ball over Ognjen Cancarevic from 25 yards.

Clearly unimpressed, Van 't Schip made a triple substitution before half-time and it paid dividends immediately after the break when Edgar Sevikyan fired home from close range.

However, it was only a short reprieve as Kvaratskhelia got on the scoresheet, latching on to a superb through ball from Anzor Mekvabishvili.
