Motta claims he will keep Cambiasso and will not let the Italian left-back go to Manchester City in this winter

Manchester City's ambitions to strengthen their squad in the January transfer window have hit a snag, as Juventus' stance on Andrea Cambiaso becomes clear. According to a recent report from Calciomercato, the Italian giants are not keen on offloading their left-back, despite interest from the reigning Premier League champions.

Juventus coach Thiago Motta has apparently closed the door on a possible exit for Andrea Cambiaso in the upcoming transfer window. With a contract that runs until 2029, Cambiaso is seen as an integral part of the Turin club's plans.

Motta’s recent comments to the press underline this commitment: “I see him [Cambiaso] very well and he will play tomorrow. Untransferable? Yes, I already have asked for players not to be sold. And they kept them.”

Pep Guardiola's side are actively looking to strengthen their squad after a difficult start to the season. Lens centre-back Abdukodir Khusanov and Palmeiras defender Vitor Reis are believed to be close to a deal. Eintracht Frankfurt striker Omar Marmoush could also join the squad.

However, a move for Cambiaso to strengthen the left side of defence may not come to fruition.

According to reports, Manchester City were prepared to offer between €60m and €65m for Cambiaso, but competition and Juventus' valuation of the player may have pushed the price up to at least €80m. Given Motta's firm stance on keeping key players, City may need to explore other avenues or focus on adapting current squad members such as Josko Gvardiol, Rico Lewis or Nathan Ake to fill the left-back role more consistently.

Thiago Motta's comments about the player's importance to Juventus represent a major roadblock in City's transfer strategy. Fans may feel the pinch, especially given the vulnerability that has been exposed at left-back for City this season.

They may question whether the existing alternatives in the squad can effectively adapt to the role, or whether the management should push for another signing. The fans generally have faith in Guardiola's vision, but as the window narrows, the urgency grows. The idea of not bringing in a specialist left-back could make some supporters uncomfortable, especially with so much at stake in the Premier League and Champions League.
