Catalan daily ‘El Periódico de Catalunya’ recently offered insight via journalists, Laura Fa and Lorena Vázquez as to why Pep Guardiola and Cristina Serra have finally gone their separate ways.
The breakup has received limited media coverage and neither the Manchester City coach nor the businesswoman have offered any interviews relating to their personal lives.
Fa and Vázquez claim that Serra had called out Guardiola on a number of times for the Catalan coach’s “obsession with everything surrounding his professional life”.
The couple spent the Christmas holidays together, but matters had soured following Pep Guardiola’s renewal with Manchester City until June 2027.
The contract extension announcement is reportedly the final straw that led the businesswoman to decide to end her marriage after 10 years with the pair also spending twenty years together as a couple. As things stand, El Periodico claim that Pep’s post City plans do not contemplate a return to his native Catalonia with his idea to continue his football career in the United Arab Emirates.
The report states that both individuals have “left the door open to reconciliation” and claim that this has been “a friendly breakup without drama or fights.”
El Periodico also claim that Guardiola and his wife were in a LAT relationship (‘Living Apart Together’). Both lived in separate houses, the 53-year-old coach in Manchester and Serra in Barcelona.
