Despite a recent poor stretch, the Dallas Mavericks are trying to find a way back to the NBA Finals.

The Mavericks have gone 3-7 in their last 10 games, struggling to find a rhythm with Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving out of the lineup. With the trade deadline approaching, Dallas has been mentioned as a potential landing spot for big names, such as Jimmy Butler, but an NBA analyst isn't quite sure that will happen.

In fact, Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report believes that the Mavs won't make any big moves despite being linked to Cameron Johnson of the Brooklyn Nets and Kyle Kuzma of the Washington Wizards.

Pincus claims they could make moves around the edges, but the safe bet is they don't take big swings at the deadline.

Johnson is having a career year, averaging 19.5 points on 49.6% shooting, including north of 40% from three-point range.

The Nets are not eager to trade Johnson because they see him as a very good fit as a role player next to a star or an attractive player to use in a trade to get that star, according to ESPN's Brian Windhorst.

The Mavs have two tradeable first-round draft picks (2025, 2031), but in the unlikely scenario, they're willing to include Dereck Lively II, any sort of realistic package Dallas could offer probably wouldn't sway the Nets enough to move on from the North Carolina product.

Kuzma is having trouble staying healthy and hasn't put up good performances with consistency, so Dallas may not even bother to try and trade for him.

A lot can happen between now and Feb. 6, but acquiring an upgrade may not be feasible for the Mavs by the trade deadline.
