One of the few remaining details for the revamped Club World Cup has been confirmed: the date of the draw. FIFA has announced it will be held on December 5 in Miami.
The 32-team Super Club World Cup, a concept pioneered by Gianni Infantino, is set to take place in the United States from June 15 to July 13, 2025. While many key elements have already been unveiled, the draw will finalize the groupings and matchups, determining who plays whom. Mark your calendars: Thursday, December 5, 1 p.m. ET in Miami. FIFA will broadcast this global event for fans around the world.
The Club World Cup already boasts 31 qualified teams, with the final spot still to be claimed by the winner of the Copa Libertadores final between Botafogo and Atlético Mineiro. The tournament will take place across twelve spectacular stadiums, each designed to host the action, with an innovative competition format, a striking new logo, and a high-profile sponsor. Now, it’s almost time for the two Spanish teams in the draw, Real Madrid and Atlético, to find out who they’ll be playing as the spotlight turns to Miami. The draw for the Super Club World Cup gets underway at 7 p.m. ET.
What’s the format of the Club World Cup?
On December 5, FIFA will draw eight groups of four teams each. Teams will play each other once in a round-robin format. The top two teams from each group will advance to the Round of 16, where knockout matches will be played. From the Round of 16 through the final on July 13, all games will be single-elimination. The champion will need to win a total of seven matches to lift the trophy. There will be no third-place playoff.
