Liverpool's left-back Andy Robertson has held discussions with the club regarding his future, but remains uncertain about the outcome of those contract negotiations.

Robertson has one year left on his current deal with Liverpool, and the club has contacted Bournemouth about their left-back Milos Kerkez.

"We have had good discussions between me and the club, but I'm not sure what the future holds," Robertson told Sky Sports News at the AR26 annual Captain’s Cup Golf Day fundraiser.

"All I know is that on Friday, I fly off on holiday, which is much needed after a long season. I'll focus on pre-season next. That's my main priority right now.

"I can't look too far ahead, as I never have and won't start now. I know my contract has one year left, and a lot is being said, but my focus is on being a dad for the next couple of weeks, enjoying time with the kids, and returning in the best shape for pre-season to see what decisions come."

When asked about the potential signing of Kerkez and the competition for his position, Robertson said: "At a big club, you always have to keep progressing. The club is always moving forward. We've seen other big clubs like Man City being active early in the transfer window.

"So far, we've only brought in Jeremie Frimpong, but it seems one or two more are close, based on what we've seen on Sky Sports News.

"We're at the top after winning the league, so it's crucial for the club to keep improving and find ways to do that. They've identified positions for new talent, and the players we're linked with are young and exciting.

"Playing for a club like Liverpool means expecting challenges and competition. I've always faced that, and so has everyone in their roles. We want the club to be ambitious, and they're doing that. If you're happy with your role, you stay; if not, some might leave. That's just how football works."
