Gremio prepares to take on Corinthians in the Brazilian Serie A, with the home side aiming to continue their impressive winning streak. The two teams are tied on 15 points, just one place apart in the standings, but the Immortal Tricolore have the better momentum, having won three straight games in all competitions, while the visitors continue to struggle in attack and form.

Gremio has been on an upswing recently, with a solid defence that has seen them go four games in a row without conceding a goal in all competitions. Mano Menezes' side have played two league games in that period, first a narrow 1-0 win at home against Bahia, then a 2-0 win over Juventud in their last game, their first away league win of 2025. In between those league games, they drew 0-0 away to CSA in the Brazilian Cup, while also winning 1-0 against Sportivo Luqueno in the South American Cup.

Back at the Gremio Arena, the hosts will be confident of continuing their excellent run, especially considering their strong home record this season, having lost just once in six league games, winning three and drawing two. Gremio have failed to beat Corinthians in their last 12 games in all competitions, a run that dates back to December 2018, and includes nine draws and three defeats, including a 0-3 home defeat in December 2024.

Corinthians were a dominant winner in the last meeting between the two teams, but the two teams are in very different form this time around, with recent performances a cause for concern. Technically, the Dorival Juniors side are unbeaten in three consecutive league games, but that statistic masks deeper struggles in attack, with the Timão side failing to score in their last three official games. In the league, they drew 0-0 with Atlético Mineiro and Bragantino, and lost 0-1 to Hurricane in the South American League, and before that, they only scored one goal in each of their three wins.

Offense has always been a problem for Corinthians. The Sao Paulo giants have either scored one goal or none in their last eight games, and their away record is even more worrying. Since February, they have played 12 consecutive away games, averaging only one goal per game.

Gremio predicted starting lineup:

Volpi; Martins, Leonardo, Kannemann, Marlon; Villasanti, Dodi; Oliveira, Cristaldo, Allison; Braithwaite

Corinthians predicted starting lineup:

Souza; Mateuziño, Ramalho, Kaka, Bidu; Ranier; Hector, Mecon, Biton, Magno; Inacio
