Mauricio Pochettino, the former Tottenham Hotspur manager, has ruled out any possibility of returning to manage the north London club after Ange Postecoglou's sacking on Friday.

Pochettino, aged 53, managed Spurs from 2014 to 2019, leading them to the 2019 Champions League final, which they lost to Liverpool, and he is now the head coach of the United States national team.

Speaking to reporters after a 2-1 friendly defeat to Turkey in Connecticut on Saturday, the Argentine coach dismissed rumors linking him to the vacant managerial role at Tottenham.

'Today it's not realistic,' said Pochettino, who has been in his current role with the US since October 2024. 'Look where I am. Look where we [his backroom staff] are. The answer is so clear.'

'I think, since I left in 2019, my name has always been on the list [of rumours].'

'I've seen the rumours, we are 100 coaches on the list. Don't be worried about that.'

'If something happens [in the future], you for sure will see, but I am so happy in this moment and we cannot talk about this type of thing.'
