FIFA President Gianni Infantino has indicated that there are ongoing discussions about a possible move for Cristiano Ronaldo to play in the Club World Cup this summer.
Ronaldo's club, Al Nassr, did not qualify for the expanded 32-team tournament, but Infantino has suggested the prospect of a transfer for the 40-year-old Portuguese forward to participate in the event.
Speaking with YouTuber and streamer IShowSpeed, Infantino said: "Ronaldo might play for one of the teams in the Club World Cup. There are discussions..."
"Yeah. Cristiano Ronaldo might play in the Club World Cup. There are discussions with some clubs, so if any club is interested in signing Ronaldo for the tournament... who knows."
FIFA has introduced a special transfer window from June 1 to June 10, allowing clubs in the Club World Cup to complete signings before the tournament, which runs from June 14 to July 13 in the United States.
The five-time Ballon d'Or winner Ronaldo joined Al Nassr in 2022 after leaving Manchester United mid-season. His contract expires this summer, though reports suggest he is close to renewing with the club.
