Bournemouth take on relegated Leicester City at the Vitality Stadium on Sunday afternoon for their final Premier League game of the 2024-25 season. The Cherries are seeking revenge against the Foxes after they lost 0-1 at the King Power Stadium last October.
Prior to March, Bournemouth were fifth in the Premier League table, dreaming of qualifying for Europe for the first time in their history, but their form has since taken a nosedive, with just two wins in their last 12 games. After beating Arsenal 2-1 at the Emirates, the Cherries lost to Aston Villa and Manchester City in quick succession, with the latter on Tuesday night extinguishing their hopes of securing a top-eight finish and promotion to the English Premier League.
Andoni Iraola's side have amassed a club-record 53 points in the Premier League this season, but they are now looking to avoid falling out of the top half as they currently sit 11th in the table, one point behind 10th-placed Fulham, who face Champions League-chasing Manchester City on the final day. Bournemouth have had little to cheer about at the Vitality Stadium in recent months, as they have lost five of their last seven home league games, scoring just four goals; only relegated Ipswich have lost more at home since the start of February.
The Cherries have lost four of their seven Premier League games heading into Sunday's fixture. Iraola's side, however, will host Leicester City, as they are unbeaten in six home Premier League games against them, winning their last three games 10-4 on aggregate.
Leicester were relegated to Premier League champions Liverpool at the end of April, but they suffered their 24th defeat of the season in their next game. However, they have since gone three games unbeaten - their best run of the entire season. In addition to the 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest, Leicester City also beat Southampton and Ipswich, who were also relegated, 2-0, and outgoing legend Jamie Vardy scored his 200th goal against Ipswich last weekend, making his 500th appearance for the club.
Leicester City would surely be 18th in the standings if they had not lost to Bournemouth this weekend, but the future of head coach Ruud van Nistelrooy is less certain, with multiple reports suggesting the Dutchman will leave at the end of the season. Leicester City's first win in six Premier League games this season came from the aforementioned comeback against Bournemouth, and they are currently aiming for their first league double over Bournemouth since the 2013-14 Championship season.
Bournemouth predicted starting lineup:
Kepa; Smith, Huissen, Zabarny, Korkez; Scott Adams; Tavernier, Kluivert, Semenyo; Evan Nelson
Leicester City predicted starting lineup:
Stolarczyk; Pereira, Coady, Firth, Thomas; Ndidi, Skipp; McAteer, Bonanotte, El Canus; Ayew
