PSG vs Angers

Match preview

The Ligue 1 title race is all but over, with PSG on course to win their 13th French crown this weekend.

Only seven defeats and seven wins for Monaco and a huge difference in goal difference can stop them, meaning it is all but decided.

PSG could have wrapped it up last weekend but for Monaco's late winner against Nice, but the 21-point gap between them and the second-placed principality club is the second-biggest ever at this stage of a Ligue 1 season, after the same two clubs were separated by 24 points in 2015-16.

The quadruple looks to be on the cards for Enrique's men, especially after they reached the final of the Coupe de France in midweek following a scare at the hands of Ligue 2 side Dunkerque.

PSG found themselves 2-0 down midway through the first half, but eventually rallied to win 4-2 in the west of France to book their place in the final, and another win here will set them up perfectly for the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final against Aston Villa in midweek.

PSG's 6-1 thrashing of Saint-Etienne last weekend, with a new-look side, equalled their longest unbeaten start to a season (27) and gives them the chance to extend that club record this time around, and they could not have asked for better opponents.

The Parisians have won 15 league games in a row against Angers, the longest winning streak by any club in the competition's history.

Since 2016, Angers have made nine trips to the Parc des Princes, losing on each occasion and conceding 31 goals in the process.

The hosts are generally dominant at home against newly-promoted teams, having gone 36 matches without defeat since before the Qatari takeover in 2010.

Angers' chances of challenging that record look slim, having lost four consecutive league games without scoring since being knocked out of the Coupe de France by Reims on penalties.

A fifth successive defeat, and their first clean sheet since 1980, would be expected and could plunge them further into trouble after wins for Le Havre and Reims last weekend closed the gap between Angers and the teams below them.

Alexandre Dujeux's side were favourites for relegation at the start of the season, but a good run of form in the middle of the campaign kept them out of danger.

However, a poor run of form since the end of January has dragged them back into the battle to avoid an immediate return to Ligue 2, and they start the weekend in 14th, just three points above Le Havre in the relegation play-off spot.

Team News

Senny Mayulu will be available for PSG after serving his suspension, and that will come in handy for Enrique, who will be keen to rotate as much as possible with the quarter-final against Villa fast approaching.

Enrique named a strong side for Tuesday's cup tie against Dunkerque, so the likes of Ousmane Dembele, Achraf Hakimi, Nuno Mendes, Vitinha and Bradley Barcola could all be rested before returning in midweek.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is expected to return from a recent illness, leaving Lee Kang-in as the only injury doubt for the hosts, with the South Korea international still nursing an ankle problem.

Angers will have midfielder Himad Abdelli back from suspension after missing last weekend's home defeat to Rennes.

However, defenders Halid Sabanovic, Cedric Hountondji and Emmanuel Biumla will all miss out, as will Adrien Hunou, who has missed most of the current campaign.
