On March 11, the German Football League (DFL) released its financial report for last season, with total revenue reaching 5.87 billion euros, a record high.

It is reported that the 36 clubs in the Bundesliga and the Bundesliga 2 generated a total revenue of 5.87 billion euros last season. This is more than 600 million euros more than the best record of the previous season (5.24 billion euros), and the growth rate reached 12%.

DFL Supervisory Board Chairman Watzke said: "Good news is not common at the moment. Whether it is worrying political developments or a clearly stagnant economy - there have certainly been easier times. With the DFL 23-24 Economic Report, German professional football is sending positive signals against the trend economically."

The Bundesliga's revenues were €4.8 billion, €350 million more than the previous year, with almost a fifth of that amount (€951.5 million) coming from Bayern.

The revenues of the 2. Bundesliga clubs (€1.07 billion) exceeded the billion mark for the first time and all 18 Bundesliga clubs showed positive equity again for the first time since the coronavirus pandemic. Likewise, 14 of the 18 2. Bundesliga clubs also showed positive equity.

The Bundesliga achieved an all-time high profit of around 155 million euros, while the 2. Bundesliga, in contrast, posted a loss of 33.1 million euros despite record revenues.

Overall, only 17 of the 36 clubs turned a profit (9 in the Bundesliga and 8 in the 2. Bundesliga), and the debt of the 36 clubs increased from 2.2 billion euros to 2.66 billion euros.
