There was a collective sigh of relief at the Stade Abbe-Deschamps last weekend as the hosts recorded their first league win since 24 November.

Auxerre recorded their first victory in any competition for almost three months when they beat Marseille 3-0 last Sunday.

Gaetan Perrin opened the scoring for the hosts before a brace from Jubal sealed a vital three points for AJA.

Despite failing to win in their previous 11 games in all competitions prior to last weekend's success, Christophe Pelissier's men have been on an impressive run at home in Ligue 1, going unbeaten in their last 10 league games.

Perhaps the biggest source of frustration for the club has been their inability to turn enough of those games into wins, as they have drawn five of their last six Ligue 1 home games.

However, their strong home form is one of the main reasons why they look set to stay in the division for at least another season, as they currently sit nine points clear of the drop zone.

Indeed, just five of Auxerre's 28 points have come on the road, underlining the importance of home form for Pelissier's men this term.

Having beaten Marseille last weekend, another win on Sunday would see the hosts move up the table and into contention for European football next season.

They will be up against a Strasbourg side who are already firmly in contention for a place in Europe, as they sit just two points behind sixth-placed Lyon.

Much like their opponents this weekend, the main reason for their success has been their impressive home form, with 22 of their 34 points coming on their own turf.

However, with three wins from their last five away league games and five from their last seven in all competitions, Liam Rosenior's side are starting to find some form away from home.

If the visitors can maintain their momentum on the road, they will do their European qualification chances a huge favour - and despite facing the side with the fifth-best home record in Ligue 1 this weekend, they will have reason to be optimistic going into the game.

Strasbourg may have struggled to win away from home in recent weeks, but they have scored 19 times in their 12 away league games this season, the fourth-best away goalscoring record.

Facing the sixth-most leaky defence in Ligue 1, they will be hoping to add to that impressive tally this weekend.

However, Auxerre's defensive record at home this season has been exceptional, with just 10 goals conceded in 12 home games, a record bettered only by Nice and Paris Saint-Germain.

Having already beaten Auxerre once this season, 3-1 back in January, Strasbourg will be hoping to complete the double against Pelissier's side as they continue their European push next year.
