West Ham can enjoy a pre-weekend night out after a comfortable 2-0 win over visiting Leicester City.

Ruud van Nistelrooy's Foxes, who find themselves in a do-or-die situation each week as they remain in the bottom three, started poorly and the Hammers only made that reality worse.

The Hammers looked the better side for the duration of the 90 minutes at the London Stadium, and an opening goal just after the 20-minute mark should have set them on their way.

Leicester failed to clear their lines properly before Aaron Cresswell's ball was flicked on by Mohammed Kudus, which was well saved by Mads Hermansen and fell to Tomáš Souček, who slotted home on his birthday from inside the six-yard box.

Graham Potter's men continued to enjoy themselves in all phases of the game in front of their home fans, particularly down the right flank as the Hammers looked for a second goal just before the break.

They finally found one in the 43rd minute through Jarrod Bowen, who had done well to keep the ball in play after West Ham's initial corner.

After the cross was not properly cleared, Bowen danced into a shooting position before unleashing a shot at the near post that Jannick Vestergaard had to settle for an own goal.

However the second goal came, it was enough for the Londoners to take all three points in a result that lifted them to 15th in the table, while Leicester slipped a place to 19th on goal difference.
