Gabriel Jesus scored a second-half hat-trick as Arsenal came from behind to beat Crystal Palace 3-2 and reach the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday.
Palace broke the deadlock in the fourth minute when Jean-Philippe Mateta beat Gunners defender Jakub Kiwior to a long ball and sidefooted home.
However, Arsenal dominated the second half and Jesus equalised in the 54th minute when Martin Ødegaard sent a lovely through ball into the box and the Brazil international chipped the ball over Dean Henderson.
Jesus scored his second in the 73rd minute when Bukayo Saka slipped the ball through for him to tap home. He completed his hat-trick eight minutes later when he ran on to Ødegaard's through ball behind Palace's back line and fired past Henderson.
"So pleased for [Jesus]. It's been a long period for him without goals," Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta told reporters. "To score the three types of goals and the many actions that he was involved in, it's a great thing for the team that we can rely on a player with such quality."
Former Arsenal man Eddie Nketiah pulled one back for Palace late on when he leapt high to head past David Raya. But the time has came to the end,
In the other two games today, Liverpool beat Southampton 2-1 away and Newcastle United beat Brentford 3-1 at home. The last semi-final spot will be between Manchester United and Tottenham, and their match will be held at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Dec 19, 2024 at 8pm UK.
