Holders Juventus reached the quarterfinals of the Coppa Italia with a comfortable 4-0 home win over Cagliari on Tuesday, thanks to goals from Dusan Vlahovic, Teun Koopmeiners, Francisco Conceicao and Nicolas Gonzalez.
Juventus, the most successful team in the competition's history with 15 trophies to their name, will host Empoli in the next round, while Cagliari turn their attention back to the Serie A relegation battle.
Vlahovic, at the centre of the Juventus fans' anger after Saturday's 2-2 draw with Venezia, soaked up the applause by scoring a minute before the break.
Koopmeiners added a second eight minutes into the second half from a free-kick, Conceicao scored 10 minutes from time and Gonzalez rounded off the scoring in the 89th minute.
Cagliari started brightly, with Gianluca Lapadula forcing a fine save from Juve goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio in the opening minute, but it was the home side who took control from then on.
Vlahovic fired over from a tight angle on the edge of the six-yard box before Kenan Yildiz's acrobatic volley was blocked by defender Mateusz Wieteska.
Conceicao then curled a shot just wide of the far post from outside the area, and minutes later he had a similar effort on target which Cagliari goalkeeper Simone Scuffet saved.
Cagliari almost held out until half-time, but when Vlahovic received a pass from Yildiz in the area with his back to goal, he controlled the ball, turned and curled a shot through the legs of Wieteska and inside the far post.
Juventus doubled their lead when Koopmeiners curled a free-kick from well outside the area over the wall and into the top corner.
Vlahovic twice had the ball in the net in the second half, but Conceicao finally got the goal he deserved when he cut inside from the right and curled a shot into the bottom corner.
Substitute Gonzalez made a solo run before beating the keeper as Juventus, who have drawn their last four league games, continued their cup success after beating Manchester City in the Champions League last week.
