Julian Nagelsmann said at Friday's press conference that Oliver Baumann will be in goal for Germany when they play Bosnia and Herzegovina in Freiburg on Saturday evening.

Oliver will be starting tomorrow. Alexander Nübel will be starting on Tuesday. "Both have done really well in training," said Nagelsmann. Ter Stegen, Germany's No. 1, is out after having surgery in September for a ruptured patella tendon during Barcelona's La Liga win against Villarreal.

Ter Stegen became Germany's No. 1 after Manuel Neuer retired from international football following Germany's European Championship campaign. The Bayern Munich goalkeeper played 124 times for the national team over a 15-year period, but after Euro 2024, he handed over the reins to his successor.

But with Ter Stegen out, it looks like Baumann is Nagelsmann's favourite, even with Nübel in the squad. Manchester City's Stefan Ortega is also part of the current national team setup, while Kevin Trapp, even though he's not in the squad, could still be an option for future announcements.

Baumann is 34 years old and has only played for Freiburg and Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga in his career. He was selected for this summer's European Cup squad, but did not play. Due to Neuer's withdrawal from the national team and Ter Stegen suffering a serious injury, Baumann finally made his national team debut in the UEFA Nations League in October this year.
