The 36-year-old former Bayern and Dortmund defender Hummels, who is playing for Roma this season, announced on social media that he will retire this summer.
Hummels made his debut in Bayern's youth training and played for Dortmund for most of his career. He played 508 games for Dortmund, scored 38 goals and made 25 assists. During his time with Dortmund, he won 2 Bundesliga titles, 2 German Cup titles, and 3 German Super Cup titles. In addition, he also played for Bayern and Roma. During his time with Bayern, he won 4 Bundesliga titles, 1 German Cup title, and 3 German Super Cup titles.
Hummels has made 78 appearances for his country, scoring 5 goals and providing 7 assists. He won the 2014 World Cup as a star player.
