Tottenham Hotspur's perfect start to the Europa League came to an end with a 3-2 defeat to Galatasaray. Victor Osimhen scored twice for the hosts and Will Rankhill scored the opener for Spurs, but he was also sent off.

Yunus Akgun put Galatasaray ahead in the sixth minute with a stunning long-range half-volley, but 12 minutes later, Brennan Johnson's pass allowed Rankhill to score and Spurs equalised.

Radu Dragusin was caught off guard in the backfield in the 31st minute and was intercepted by Mauro Icardi. The ball fell to Dries Mertens, who passed it to Osimhen, who fired the ball into the bottom corner with a quick, smooth shot.

Osimhen scored again six minutes before half-time. Mertens passed the ball into the box and the striker volleyed it past the goalkeeper from outside the six-yard box, between two defenders.

Rankhear got his second yellow card in seven minutes in the 60th minute, but nine minutes later, Tottenham pulled one back when substitute Dominic Solanke back-heeled Pedro Porro's cross into the net with the team down to 10 men.

Spurs had won three out of three in the competition, but were 3-1 down at half-time and ended up losing 3-2. They're now behind Galatasaray on nine points from three wins in the Europa League, one point behind the Turkish Super League side.

"Obviously, the result is disappointing. It wasn't a good first half and we didn't handle the situation well at all," Postecoglou told reporters.

"Especially in terms of possession, it was really wasteful and gave the ball away unnecessarily a lot. It allowed them to establish themselves in areas where they are good. I think that ultimately cost us the game in the first half and that was disappointing for us."
