Jamie Llewellyn has become a surprising hero in Germany! The lucky winger scored the winning goal on his debut against a powerless Netherlands, helping Julian Nagelsmann's side stay top of their Nations League group.
Jamie Llewellyn finished off his Germany debut with a vital goal in a 1-0 win over the Netherlands in Monday's Nations League.
Llewellyn scored on his Germany debut as Germany beat the Netherlands 1-0 in Munich, remaining unbeaten and top of their group. The 23-year-old was a surprise inclusion in the starting line-up, having only been called up due to an injury to Jamal Musiala. He was then given a start after Deniz Küçükçıkmaz was also injured and couldn't play. Llewellyn made his mark just two minutes in, sending a shot into the Dutch goal that was ruled out after a lengthy VAR review.
Germany's lead was short-lived, but the Netherlands struggled to even get the ball past the halfway line. They managed to keep the score level thanks to some desperate defending and Verbruggen. As anticipated, Germany broke the deadlock when a failed clearance rolled into the path of Levering, who slammed it into the top corner.
Julian Nagelsmann gave Stuttgart striker Levering a chance to prove himself due to injuries to other players. He did just that, scoring the winning goal after an early goal was ruled out for offside in a dull game.
