Manchester United duo Mason Mount and Rasmus Hojlund trained with the main group at Carrington on Wednesday in preparation for Saturday's Premier League clash with Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.
Mount, who has missed each of United's last three matches with a muscle issue, was understood to have returned to first-team training earlier this week. The Manchester Evening News, on Monday, reported that the former Chelsea man could return from his spell on the sidelines sooner than originally anticipated.
The midfielder, 25, started each of United's opening three competitive fixtures this season, but was forced off in the 2-1 defeat at Brighton & Hove Albion last month. He said in a social media post that he expected to miss 'a few games'.
Meanwhile, Hojlund has not featured for United so far this season because of a hamstring injury. He was forced off in the club's opening game of their pre-season tour of the United States in July, just minutes after handing the Reds the lead against Arsenal.
United, at the time, said they anticipated the Danish international, who scored 16 goals last season, would be out for around six weeks, with last weekend's 3-0 win over Southampton cited as a possible comeback date for the striker.
However, manager Erik ten Hag said the trip to St Mary's had come too soon for the former Atalanta ace. He was also left out of the matchday squad for Tuesday night's 7-0 win over Barnsley in the Carabao Cup. In the striker's absence, Bruno Fernandes and Joshua Zirkzee have deputised at the tip of United's attack in the Premier League.
Ten Hag is scheduled to face the media at Carrington on Thursday afternoon and will almost certainly provide more clarity on Mount's and Hojlund's conditions, as well as assessing their chances of being involved this weekend.
