Man United Oficial:

Amad's introduction off the bench in Thursday's Carabao Cup tie at Tottenham Hotspur injected some much-needed urgency into Manchester United's play.

The winger came on and made an impact, alongside his fellow substitutes, as the Reds very nearly completed an improbable comeback against the hosts.

While the result was not what we wanted, and we were eliminated from the competition after a 4-3 defeat, Amad's second-half performance reiterated once more his desire to succeed under head coach Ruben Amorim.

Stats don't lie, and when you look closer at the numbers, the influence of our no.16 is clear to see.

According to Opta, Amad has contributed a goal or assist every 111 minutes in the 2024/25 Premier League season so far. Bruno Fernandes (one every 149 minutes) is the next closest United player.

Since Ruben arrived, the winger has scored twice and assisted five times in the league, with his last being that memorable late goal at Manchester City in last Sunday's 2-1 derby win.

Our head coach has trusted Amad at both wing-back and in an attacking-midfield role, with the latter being where he has played more recently, receiving the ball in tight spaces and going past players with ease.

In fact, Amad's 14 attempted take-ons in the penalty area is only bettered by Liverpool's Mohamed Salah, who has tried 20 times.

Our no.16 has followed up three take-ons with goal involvements, more than any other Premier League player so far this season.

The increased minutes and trust the 22-year-old has received from Amorim are paying dividends, with Amad playing the fourth most amount of time since Ruben's arrival (Fernandes, Dalot and Mazraoui are his only team-mates to have played more).

Our head coach said after the Man City victory that he wanted to be careful about building up the Ivory Coast international, so as not to increase pressure on him.

A creative spark, Amad seems to be relishing the responsibility - made apparent by his willingness to direct some of his older and more experienced team-mates when he came on against Spurs on Thursday.

His influence is apparent, and all United fans will be hoping the attacker can continue his form into our Premier League meeting with Bournemouth on Sunday (14:00 GMT).
