The Netherlands had reached the Nations League quarter-finals but ended up drawing with Bosnia and Herzegovina, while Sporting Lisbon striker Victor Gyokeres continued his fine form, scoring four goals for Sweden against Azerbaijan. Meanwhile, Turkey missed out on automatic promotion to League A with a shock defeat to Montenegro. Here are the UEFA Nations League match reports for November 19th.
Bosnia 1-1 Netherlands
Elmedin Demirović levelled the score midway through the second half, helping Bosnia to earn just their second point of the Nations League group. The Netherlands had already secured their place in the quarter-finals before the game, having beaten Hungary 4-0 on Saturday. The Netherlands were first to score through Brobey, but Bosnia fought back at home and equalised in the 67th minute of the second half.
Montenegro 3-1 Turkey
Montenegro had a comfortable 3-1 win against Turkey. They were trailing around the half-hour mark when Nikola Krstovic took advantage of an Emirhan Topcu mistake, ran towards the goal and scored from a tight angle. Kenan Yildiz equalised eight minutes later, but Krstovic punished Turkey again, re-establishing Montenegro's lead at half-time. Krstovic scored an impressive hat-trick with 17 minutes remaining, securing his side's first win in the Nations League and ending a run of seven straight defeats.
Czech Republic 2-1 Georgia
The Czech Republic has made it to League A in Group B1 after beating Georgia 2-1 in Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. Pavel Sulc and Adam Hlozek got the goals in the first half, giving the group leaders a strong lead. Despite Euro 2024 hero Georges Mikautadze reducing the deficit to one goal, Georgia still went four games without a win.
Ukraine 2-1 Albania
Ukraine has secured its place in the play-offs with a 2-1 win over Albania. Oleksandr Zinchenko got Ukraine on the scoreboard first in the fifth minute, putting them up 1-0. Just five minutes later, Konoplja made a clever assist, and Yaremchuk doubled Ukraine's lead. Albania managed to pull one back from the penalty spot in the second half, but unfortunately couldn't add to their tally.
Sweden 6-0 Azerbaijan
Viktor Gyokeres kept up his great goalscoring streak, netting four times to help Sweden finish top of Group C1 with a 6-0 win over Azerbaijan. The Sporting Lisbon forward scored his 32nd goal for club and country since the start of the season, making it a great night for Solna. Tottenham winger Dejan Kulusevski also got on the scoreboard twice. Sweden had a great Nations League campaign, picking up 16 points from 18, with only Slovakia holding them to a 2-2 draw. Slovakia, in the same group, also had a good night, winning 1-0 against Estonia.
