KANSAS CITY -- After leading Canada to their first win against the United States on American soil since 1957, manager Jesse Marsch insists that the Reds are in a better situation than the Americans currently find themselves in.

"I'd rather coach our team 100 percent no questions asked," Marsch said in his postmatch press conference before reemphasizing. "I'd much rather coach Canada than the U.S. right now, right?"

He added, "You can see the mentality that's been developed. You can see the way this team plays. You can see how much they love playing for the national team, and they're willing to put their careers and lives in the way they play on the line, to be the best they can can be for each other and for the team. And that's all you can ask for as a coach."

Marsch, a former U.S. international with two caps who played 13 years in Major League Soccer, was a candidate for the USMNT head coach position for several years. His candidacy was largely due to his trailblazing coaching journey across several high-profile European clubs. However, he withdrew from consideration, citing issues with U.S. Soccer’s hiring process. Canada notched just its second win against the U.S. on American soil Saturday.

Pressure is mounting on the U.S. to make their rumored hiring of Mauricio Pochettino official. The sentiment around the U.S. fan base is at a low, especially after a flat performance Saturday and a disappointing run in the Copa America held on home soil.

Marsch's continued success with a Canada team that was ranked 40th by FIFA as opposed to the U.S.'s 16th, further exacerbates the problem -- especially considering the fact that he was available for the U.S. to hire.

Until there is clarity about the U.S. head coach vacancy, questions will continue to mount for U.S. Soccer.

"I've answered enough questions this week and probably brought on more pressure than I needed to about the team and the players and the coaching and all this. I mean, I did. I'm not, believe me. I'm not bitter. People think I'm bitter if I but most people, if they ask me a question, I answer it," Marsch said.

"That's how I operate in the media. I'd rather coach our team 100 percent, no questions asked. I'd much rather coach Canada than the US right now, right?"

The U.S. will aim to regroup when they host New Zealand in Cincinnati on Tuesday while Canada is aiming for another big upset when they travel to Dallas to face Mexico at AT&T Stadium on the same day.
