Last season, the Hammers missed out on European qualification, finishing only ninth in the Premier League. It was evident that West Ham aimed for success in the Europa League, but their campaign was cut short in the quarter-finals by Bayer Leverkusen, losing 0-2 away and drawing 1-1 at home.
The team did not impress during the pre-season, suffering defeats to the likes of Wolverhampton and Crystal Palace. In the opening round of the new Premier League season, West Ham lost 1-2 at home to Aston Villa. However, last weekend, they managed to secure a victory against Crystal Palace on the road, scoring two late goals in the second half.
Bournemouth had an inconsistent season last year, starting poorly but managing to recover and secure a mid-table finish, ultimately ending up in 12th place. This stability allowed them to comfortably retain their Premier League status.
During the off-season, the team lost Dominic Solanke but reinvested the funds wisely to strengthen the squad. In the opening matches of the new season, Bournemouth played out two 1-1 draws. First, they earned a point away at Nottingham Forest, and last weekend, they shared the spoils with Newcastle at home.
