Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has stated that his team is adapting to the conditions amid a severe heatwave on the United States' east coast.
Cities in the U.S. hosting the Club World Cup, including Philadelphia, are dealing with intense heat, where Chelsea will face Espérance Sportive de Tunis in their final group game on Tuesday.
"It's nearly impossible to conduct a full training session because of the weather," Maresca told a news conference.
"We are conserving energy for the game. This morning's session was very short, focused only on planning for tomorrow, that's it. No more than that.
"It's not easy with these temperatures, but we will give our best tomorrow to advance in the competition."
Forecasts in Philadelphia indicate a heat index of 108 degrees Fahrenheit (42.2 Celsius) on Monday.
The city's public health department has declared a heat emergency through Wednesday evening. Officials are directing residents to air-conditioned libraries, community centers, and other locations, and have established a "heat line" staffed by medical professionals to address heat-related conditions and illnesses.
