Liverpool is on the verge of finalizing a deal to sell Jarell Quansah to Bayer Leverkusen for a package valued at more than £34 million (€40 million).

Final negotiations are ongoing between the clubs, and the player is eager to proceed with the move once a complete agreement is reached.

Marc Guehi's name has resurfaced in connection with Liverpool in the past 24 hours, with Sky Sports News previously reporting on their longstanding interest in him, though any summer transfer appears distant at present.

Arsenal and several other clubs are also interested in Guehi, but if he were to move, he would require guarantees of regular first-team starts, and negotiating a fee with Crystal Palace would be challenging.

This supports the notion that Guehi is not a likely candidate for Liverpool to replace Quansah directly, and any decision on him may hinge more on the future of Ibrahima Konate, whose contract renewal talks have not yet resulted in an agreement, with only one year left on his current deal.

Liverpool is searching for a new centre-back, ideally a young talent with high potential, similar to their interest in Leny Yoro last summer and Dean Huijsen this summer, who joined Real Madrid.

The club remains confident in their defensive depth even if Quansah departs, as he only started once in the Premier League at centre-back before their title win. Liverpool will seriously consider attractive market opportunities but only for the right player, and they are willing to wait.
