Corinthians will host Vitoria at the Corinthians Arena, aiming to maintain their unbeaten streak in this fixture and improve their position in the top half of the Brasileiro Serie A table.
The hosts have struggled for consistency in this campaign and are eighth in the table, while the visitors are hoping to leave the drop zone with a win here.
Match preview
Corinthians have experienced a mixed start to the 2025 season – despite a strong home record, they have struggled on the road, leading to inconsistent performances.
Dorival Junior's men recorded a win and a draw from the opening two matches, but things went south after losing three of the following four matches, recording just one victory in that time.
Timao have since picked things up a little in their last four league matches, picking up two wins, a loss and settling for a goalless draw with Atletico Mineiro in their most recent league game.
Corinthians are also involved in Copa do Brasil, where they have advanced beyond the third round, and Sudamericana, where a 1-0 loss to Argentine side Huracan saw them exit the competition in the group stage after finishing third in Group C.
With focus bask on Brasileiro, the hosts will hope to climb up the table with victory in this game, and they will be buoyed by an ongoing six-match unbeaten streak against the visitors across all competitions, with the last two being wins in the league.
Vitoria, on the other hand, have had a more challenging start to the campaign, currently sitting 17th in the table, the first spot in the relegation zone, and they are desperate for points to kickstart their campaign.
They have lost their last three matches across all competitions, including a 1-0 defeat to Universidad of Ecuador in the Sudamericana most recently, which saw them exit the continental competition.
In the domestic league, Thiago Carpini's side have won just twice, losing half of their games so far, including the most recent two against Santos (1-0) and Bahia (2-1).
Historically, Vitoria have struggled in this fixture, winning just two of 27 encounters, though their last victory was on the road in 2017, no wins in five away league games this season leaves a huge doubt on their ability to replicate that.
Team News
Corinthians will be without Yuri Alberto and Gustavo Henrique, who are sidelined with lower back and groin injuries, respectively.
Alberto had hit form before his setback, scoring in two consecutive matches, but the return of Memphis Depay from an ankle issue means the hosts remain well-equipped in attack.
As for Vitoria, midfielder Pepe will serve the second of his two-match suspension following his red card in the defeat to Bahia.
They will also be without Matheuzinho, who misses out through suspension after accumulating too many yellow cards.
Corinthians possible starting lineup:
Souza; Matheuzinho, Andre Ramalho, Caca, Fabrizio Angileri; Maycon, Raniele, Martinez, Carrillo; Depay, Magno
Vitoria possible starting lineup:
Arcanjo; Claudinho, Marcos, Halter, Jamerson; Ryller, Ronald; Silva, Matheuzinho, Filho; Kayzer
