Budget: Having conducted very little business during the past few transfer windows, Liverpool are in a strong financial position heading into this summer. However, the club's policy is to spend only if the right players are available.
What does the team need? Considering Liverpool won the league convincingly this season, it may seem unusual to suggest a major overhaul, but Arne Slot's side could benefit from some strategic additions. With Trent Alexander-Arnold leaving on a free transfer, there's a vacancy at right back, and reinforcements at left back and center back are also required. Uncertainty over Darwin Núñez's future means Liverpool are likely to seek a new No. 9 striker and might also aim to replace Alexander-Arnold's creativity by signing another midfielder.
Who are the major targets? Liverpool appear to be active in the transfer market, and sources have indicated to ESPN that Bayer Leverkusen's wing back Jeremie Frimpong has already completed his medical at Anfield. The Netherlands international is expected to compete for the right back spot with Conor Bradley after Alexander-Arnold's departure, with Liverpool activating his £30 million release clause. Sources also reveal that Slot is leading the pursuit of Frimpong's teammate, Germany playmaker Florian Wirtz, who is eager to move to the Premier League and could command a club-record fee. At left back, Bournemouth's Milos Kerkez is highly regarded, while Eintracht Frankfurt forward Hugo Ekitike and Newcastle United's Alexander Isak are among the strikers linked to the club.
Who could be leaving? Alexander-Arnold has confirmed his exit and is expected to join Real Madrid. Meanwhile, striker Núñez has drawn interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia, and Barcelona are pursuing winger Luis Díaz. Midfielder Harvey Elliott and goalkeeper Caoimhín Kelleher might also depart in search of more playing time.
Any new contracts? Liverpool have secured key extensions for Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk. The club is also working to renew the contracts of defender Ibrahima Konaté (expires 2026) and Díaz (expires 2027).
