Dan Burn has expressed his eagerness to finish his career at his boyhood club, Newcastle United, following manager Eddie Howe's revelation that the 33-year-old is negotiating a new contract at St James' Park.

In an interview with Sky Sports, Burn stated: "Nothing is signed and sealed yet, but I'd love to finish my career here. I'm 34 now, which is amazing, and I never thought I'd still be playing football at this age."

"I feel like I'm still improving and not slowing down – if we can finalize something, that would be amazing."

Burn has flourished in the later stages of his career, having spent most of his time in the EFL before a breakthrough season at Brighton in 2019/20 at age 27.

"It makes it even better," he reflected on his career path. "I wouldn't change a thing; all the ups and downs have made it more special."

"When I signed for Newcastle, many thought I was just a temporary signing to help the club stay up before they moved on, but I'm proud to be playing regularly week in and week out."
