Swansea vs Oxford Utd

Match preview

Alan Sheehan was appointed as Swansea's new permanent manager on Wednesday, rewarding his outstanding spell in charge of the club on an interim basis.

A total of 23 points from 12 games in the second tier has put an end to any fears of a relegation battle and left the Welsh side on the brink of a top-10 finish.

Whether they reach that target or not, Swansea now appear to be on an upward trajectory under a man who was a member of the backroom staff of their two previous managers.

Although Swansea lost 1-0 at Millwall last time out, they had previously gone on a five-match winning streak in which they had conceded just one goal.

Despite winning five of their last six games at home, Swansea still only have the 15th-best home record in the division.

Oxford, meanwhile, have won just four of their last 17 Championship games, but that has been enough to secure their second-tier status for another 12 months.

Gary Rowett's side have won nine and drawn seven of their 25 games in all competitions since his arrival in December, and they remain relegation favourites.

Although three of those four victories have come at the Kassam Stadium, Oxford have picked up four of their 14 points on the road in their last two encounters.

A 1-0 win at Sheffield Wednesday was followed by a 1-1 draw at Cardiff City, a return that should give them confidence ahead of a potentially daunting trip to the Swansea City Stadium.

Team News

Despite Swansea's defeat at Millwall, Sheehan is unlikely to make many changes to his first XI for this game.

Zan Vipotnik is likely to return to the heart of the attack, possibly at the expense of Liam Cullen.

Myles Peart-Harris, Josh Ginnelly and Kristian Pedersen are all out through injury, while Harry Darling is also expected to miss out.

Barring any fitness issues, Rowett could stick with the same starting line-up that beat Sunderland.

Idris El Mizouni and Siriki Dembele are among those on the injury list, but Hidde ter Avest returns from a minor lay-off last time out.
