Tottenham Hotspur have reignited their interest in Marcus Rashford ahead of a potentially pivotal summer transfer window. According to FootballTransfers, the north London club are ready to make a move for the Manchester United forward should Aston Villa decide against making his loan deal permanent.

Rashford, 27, has impressed during his short spell at Villa Park, but Unai Emery's side have yet to activate their €46.6m (£40m) option to sign the England international. While no firm decision has been announced, Spurs are understood to be closely monitoring developments as they look to bolster their forward line ahead of a possible departure of Heung-min Son.

Tottenham had initially explored the possibility of signing Rashford in the January transfer window, but ultimately turned to Bayern Munich's Mathys Tel on a short-term loan deal. Ange Postecoglou was reportedly the driving force behind the decision, seeing Tel as a more flexible attacking option.

Now, with their summer plans in full swing, Spurs are again weighing up their attacking options and Rashford has re-emerged as a viable option. "Tottenham will reignite their interest in Rashford if Villa decide against signing him on a permanent deal this summer," says the report.

Rashford is not the only name being bandied about. Manchester City winger Jack Grealish is also being monitored, as is Southampton's 18-year-old right-back Tyler Dibling, with the club apparently planning for both the short and long term.

James Maddison, one of the club's most prolific creators, is another potential target. Despite scoring 11 goals and laying on nine assists in all competitions this season, Maddison has made just 20 Premier League starts. FootballTransfers understands that he "could leave Tottenham if a suitable offer comes in".

Maddison, now 28, is under contract until 2028, but Spurs could look to cash in as they reshape their midfield and front line.
