Bayern updated the recovery status of their first choice goalkeeper and captain Manuel Neuer on 25 April ahead of the match against Mainz.
Manuel Neuer returned to training with the squad on Friday as he completed drills with his fellow goalkeepers once again. The 39-year-old captain had suffered a strain in his right calf in Bayern’s Champions League game against Bayer Leverkusen in early March. Due to a reaction in the muscles during his recovery, Neuer had to sit out again but has now taken his next step towards a comeback by returning to team training.
If Bayern win tonight and their rivals Leverkusen fail to beat Augsburg, they will win the Bundesliga title this season ahead of schedule. It will also be Neuer's twelfth Bundesliga title with Bayern.
