The Chinese Super League is reeling from the sudden death of a foreign player, with his past scandals coming to light.

The Chinese Football Association and the Chinese Professional League announced their condolences on the 17th (Korean time) for the death of 29-year-old Aaron Boupendza of Zhejiang FC. They stated, 'Boupendza tragically passed away at his home on the 16th. This is an immense sorrow,' and added, 'We extend our deepest condolences to the deceased. We also offer sincere comfort to his relatives, family, and friends.'

They further noted, 'Boupendza joined the Chinese Professional League this year and demonstrated outstanding performance and professionalism as a player. He contributed to the development of the Chinese football league. We express our profound respect,' and emphasized, 'Foreign players are crucial to the growth of Chinese professional football. China will pay greater attention to the physical and mental health of all football players.'

A Chinese media outlet highlighted Boupendza's past scandals following his death. Sina Sports reported, citing Romanian media, 'Boupendza fell into depression due to a scandal. Last year, he was accused of photographing himself in an intimate pose with a young woman in Gabon and distributing the images. This act is considered a crime in Gabon, potentially leading to a maximum of 5 years in prison or a fine of up to 17,000 euros (approximately 27 million won).' Boupendza had previously played in Bucharest, Romania.

Boupendza was confirmed to have died at his home the day before a Zhejiang match. Football Wang, a Chinese football expert media, reported, 'Boupendza tragically fell from his residential building. Police are continuing their investigation of the Hangzhou residential area and the building. A police car is parked below the building where the incident occurred, and the cordon has been removed.'

The media also stated, 'The 11th floor of the building from which Boupendza fell had lights on. Police were seen using flashlights to investigate the balcony. The balcony is enclosed only by glass and a railing, with a height of about 1.5 meters and no additional protective measures like wire mesh.'

Following Boupendza's death, the President of Gabon and the Gabon Football Association expressed their condolences. Gabon's President Ali Bongo Ondimba said, 'It is heartbreaking that the talented striker Boupendza has passed away. We offer our sincere condolences.'
