Mallorca vs Leganes

Match preview

Mallorca have a record of 12 wins, seven draws and 12 defeats from their 31 league games this season, with a tally of 43 points to leave them eighth in the standings, five points behind sixth-placed Real Betis.

Jagoba Arrasate's side are in contention for a European spot at the end of the season and will be looking to make it back-to-back league victories after beating Real Sociedad 2-0 last time out.

The Pirates finished 15th in the Spanish top flight last season, but there has been a marked improvement in the 2024-25 campaign, with the team defensively solid, which is fortunate considering they have conceded just 31 league goals.

Mallorca have taken 23 points from their 16 home league games in the 2024-25 campaign and will welcome a Leganes side who have taken just 10 points from their 15 away games this term.

The Pirates will be looking to complete the league double against Leganes, having won 1-0 in the reverse fixture earlier this season, with the match taking place in August 2024.

Leganes, meanwhile, will be coming into the game on the back of a 1-0 home defeat to Barcelona, which was their fourth defeat in their last five games during a poor run of form.

Borja Jimenez's side last won on home soil in early March, beating Getafe 1-0, while their only away win of the campaign came in December when they defeated Barcelona 1-0.

Leganes have won six, drawn 10 and lost 15 of their 31 league games this term, picking up 28 points to sit 19th in the standings, two points behind 17th-placed Alaves.

It is not yet time to hit the panic button, with plenty of points still up for grabs, but their lack of goals this term is a cause for concern, having found the back of the net on just 29 occasions, the second-worst attacking record behind basement club Real Valladolid (21).

Leganes are the reigning Segunda Division champions and will be back at this level for the first time since 2020, so it would be a huge achievement for them to make it back-to-back seasons in the top flight.
