The latest edition of Italian newspaper La Stampa reports that Massimiliano Allegri is a real option for Roma.
Roma appear to have identified their future coach, with Massimiliano Allegri in pole position to replace Claudio Ranieri.
After weeks of rumours and speculation, La Stampa reports that Allegri is the leading candidate for the Giallorossi dugout, although no final decision has been made.
The search for Roma's new coach has seen many names floated around, but the exclusion of Gian Piero Gasperini from the running, a decision taken by Ranieri himself, has clarified the direction in which the search is heading.
Allegri, who left Juventus at the end of last season, seems to be the preferred choice to revive the Roman club.
It will be a difficult negotiation, with Allegri demanding technical guarantees before accepting the challenge.
Roma, however, seem ready to focus on him, thanks to the support of Ranieri, who has used his experience and reputation to convince the former Juventus coach.
Despite the rumours, the situation is still evolving but, barring any twists and turns, Allegri could be the next coach of Roma, opening a new chapter for the club.
The link with the capital city is nothing new for the coach, who has always enjoyed excellent relations with a number of former Giallorossi players.
