New England Revolution midfielder Alhassan Yusuf has finally joined the Super Eagles camp in Kigali, Rwanda, completing the number of players in camp ahead of Friday's crucial 2026 Fifa World Cup qualifier against Rwanda.
The Super Eagles opened their camp on Sunday night with the arrival of team officials, technical staff, and six players.
As part of their preparations, the team has been undergoing intensive training, including a gym session led by the technical staff.
A video circulating online shows the players being put through their paces, while the team had their first training session on the pitch on Tuesday.
Alhassan's arrival is an addition to the options in midfield for head coach Eric Chelle, who would need all the profile of the players available to ensure Nigeria secure a victory.
The 24-year-old impressed with his performance at the 2023 AFCON tournament in Ivory Coast, unfortunately an injury against Equatorial Guinea meant he lost his position in the squad.
Previously a player in the Belgian Pro League, Alhassan has moved to the MLS, where he has continued to impact.
Since the move, Alhassan has featured in four games and deployed in two positions. He has been deployed as a defensive midfielder three times and also played as a left midfielder once in different systems.
Chelle will be hoping that Alhassan, with his versatility, can provide him with different options as Nigeria hope to revive hopes of qualifying for the World Cup.
The Super Eagles, currently fifth in Group C, must secure maximum points to keep their World Cup qualification hopes alive.
However, the Malian tactician will hope to step up the preparation for the clash with the number of players in camp now 23.
Nigeria will face the Wraps on Friday at the Amahoro Stadium on Friday.
