Dayot Upamecano is set to follow three team-mates in signing a new long-term deal with Bayern Munich.

The central defender is close to penning new terms until 2030, report Sky Sport in Germany, with only the finer details still to be finalised. He was initially out of contract in 2026 but will now be in Munich for the long term.

Upamecano joins three team-mates in agreeing an extension. Manuel Neuer, Alphonso Davies and Jamal Musiala have all committed their futures to the Bundesliga leaders, who are establishing a core of impressive young talent.

Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund said recently: "Upa knows that we definitely want to extend his contract. We have had very good discussions with him. We would like to extend his contract with him as soon as possible."

Bayern are in a strong position this season, sitting eight points clear at the top of the Bundesliga and this week beating Celtic to progress to the last 16 of the Champions League. Tying some of their best young talent down to new deals, the future looks bright beyond this campaign, too.
