Paris Saint-Germain smoothly advanced to the Champions League last 16. On Wednesday, in the knockout phase playoff second leg, they achieved a resounding 7-0 victory at home against their fellow French team, Brest. This remarkable win secured them an aggregate triumph of 10-0 over Brest.

This encounter is truly one that will be etched in the annals of history. For PSG, it stands as their most commanding victory in European competitions. Meanwhile, Brest's very first appearance in the Champions League concluded in a harsh manner, as they endured the most lopsided defeat ever recorded by a French team in Europe's top club competition.

After PSG's 3-0 away victory in the first leg, both teams began the second leg rather sluggishly. There was a distinct lack of urgency and a clear-cut game plan was absent, with the home side, PSG, having a firm grip on the tie from the start.

Twenty minutes into the game, Bradley Barcola found the back of the net for PSG. He capitalized on a well-placed through ball and coolly slotted the ball into the goal.

Just six minutes prior to the halftime break, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia extended PSG's lead. Scoring his first goal in the tournament for the French champions, he stretched out his foot to reach a low cross and deftly tapped the ball in from a narrow angle.

Vitinha made it three goals for PSG shortly before the 60th minute mark, and Désiré Doué added the fourth goal to further widen the gap.

Nuno Mendes grabbed PSG's fifth, Gonçalo Ramos added a sixth, and Brest's humiliation was complete four minutes from time when Senny Mayulu became the seventh PSG player to score and complete the rout.

Mayulu's strike made PSG the first team to have seven different scorers in a single Champions League match and the capital club will face Liverpool or Barcelona in the last 16.

Qatari-backed PSG, the Ligue 1 leaders, are bidding to win their first Champions League title. They were crowned French champions for a record-extending 12th time last season, securing their 10th title in the last 12 seasons.

"We are showing that everything is possible. Our goal is to win the Champions League. We will do everything in our power to do it," Kvaratskhelia said.

PSG are now unbeaten in their last 32 competitive meetings with Brest, a streak dating back to 1985.
