Aston Villa's Jacob Ramsey struck inside the first minute and Morgan Rogers added a second-half goal to secure a 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur and a place in the fifth round of the FA Cup for the first time in 10 years at Villa Park on Sunday.

Villa needed just 58 seconds to open the scoring when Rogers raced forward virtually unchallenged before slipping the ball into the path of Ramsey. The 23-year-old fired straight at Antonin Kinsky, who got two hands to the ball, but it slipped through his hands and into the net.

Rogers doubled the home side's lead on 64 minutes when Pedro Porro failed to clear Leon Bailey's cross and Rogers was on hand to pounce on the loose ball and slot home from close range for his 11th goal of the season in all competitions for Unai Emery's side.

Villa's Manchester United loanee Marcus Rashford, who had not played since December 12, made his debut two minutes after the second goal to the delight of the home fans.

Spurs' new Bayern Munich signing Mathys Tel pulled one back in the 91st minute with his first goal for the club, turning in Dejan Kulusevski's cross, but despite some late pressure the hosts held on for the win.

Tottenham's defeat leaves the Europa League as their only hope of winning a trophy this season after they were knocked out of the League Cup by Liverpool, who won the semi-final second leg 4-0 on Thursday to progress to the final with Newcastle United 4-1 on aggregate.

Villa's last appearance in the fifth round was in 2014-15, when they reached the final before losing 4-0 to Arsenal.
