Andrew Omobamidele, the Irish international defender, has joined Strasbourg on loan until the end of the season with an option to buy. He will also become the first Irish player to play for Strasbourg.
Strasbourg has received its first winter reinforcement. The 22-year-old centre-back, an Irish international (10 appearances), is on loan from Nottingham Forest, who are currently third in the English Championship.
Omobamidele has not had many appearances this season, making only one appearance for the team. The team's main centre-backs are Murillo, Milenković and Morato, and Omobamidele is lower in the pecking order, but this loan may allow the former Irish talent to regroup.
Andrew Omobamidele was named Norwich captain at the age of 20 and is a major contributor to the Canaries' promotion to the Premier League in the 2022-2023 season. He was considered one of the brightest prospects in Irish football and subsequently moved to Forest in the summer of 2023, where he made 15 appearances and scored 1 goal.
