Newcastle boss Eddie Howe has revealed "anything could happen" over Miguel Almiron's future amid interest from MLS side Atlanta Utd.
Atlanta United are in advanced talks to sign Almiron with an offer of £8m, plus add-ons, on the table and close to being agreed, according to Sky Sports.
Atlanta want Almiron to return to the club.
The Paraguay international has started just once in the Premier League this term, his seventh season at Newcastle since joining from Atlanta in 2018.
Questioned about Almiron's future ahead of Saturday's home match against Bournemouth, Howe replied: "We're expecting him in for training today and as part of our squad tomorrow.
"With him, currently, anything could happen.
"But my concern is getting the squad focused for tomorrow's game."
Questioned on potentially losing Almiron and not replacing him, Howe responded:"It's not ideal. I don't think it's ideal from anyone's viewpoint from our side.
"We don't want to lose players but we know that there's a reality with PSR and the ongoing managing of that situation.
"So we've said many times over the last few weeks we'll make more decisions not based on football, but based on decisions that we potentially have to make for the future."
