Last night’s Copa del Rey Last 16 win against Celta was costly for Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid. Eduardo Camavinga ended the game in the wars and according to a medical report issued by the club this morning, has suffered an undisclosed injury to his left hamstring.
As always with issues concerning Madrid’s infirmary, a return date has not been set and will depend on how the player progresses with his injury, although similar hamstring injuries generally take around three weeks to heal.
What games will Camavinga miss?
If the French midfielder’s estimated recovery time is confirmed, he will miss the next three league games - against Las Palmas, Valladolid and Espanyol), the Copa del Rey quarter final (a one-legged tie played between 4 and 6 February - Madrid will find out who their rivals are in Monday’s draw) and the two final matchdays of the Champions League league phase against Salzburg at the Bernabéu (22 January) and away to Brest (29 January).
In theory, Camavinga might be able to return for the Madrid derby against Atlético at the Bernabéu on 9 February, although that will depend on whether Ancelotti considers his is 100% fit to play.
Camavinga has missed 14 games through injury this season, having suffered knee and muscular problems. He has made a total of 16 appearances in all competitions with 11 starts, one goal and two assists.
