Reports from Germany indicate that Alphonso Davies is on the verge of renewing his contract with Bayern Munich, which would be a huge blow for long-term admirers Real Madrid.
When will Alphonso Davies' future be decided?
A crucial meeting between Bayern officials and Nick Huoseh, Davies’ agent, is scheduled for next week. This meeting is expected to be pivotal in ensuring the 24-year-old remains at Allianz Arena beyond this summer, when his current contract expires.
Max Eberl, Bayern’s sporting director, confirmed the ongoing discussions with Davies’ camp and emphasized the club’s desire to resolve the matter before the season enters its critical phase.
“It’s no secret that we’re talking to the agents of players whose contracts are about to expire,” Eberl stated. “We have a game on Saturday, so nothing will happen this week. We’ve all agreed that we don’t want to enter the important part of the season with these issues unresolved. Everyone is interested in having a successful second half of the season. We’re trying to satisfy all parties,” he added.
Davies “crucial” for Bayern coach Kompany
Meanwhile, Bayern’s head coach Vincent Kompany underscored Davies’ importance to his project at the six-time European champions and his plans for the Canadian at left-back.
“From a purely sporting perspective, what Phonzy brings to our game is evident. He’s a player who continues to progress and whose performances are crucial. I’m confident he’ll improve even more. What he’s doing now is good, and he’ll do even better in the future,” the Belgian coach concluded.
The saga surrounding Davies, whose future seems increasingly distant from Madrid, appears to be nearing its resolution.
