Ange Postecoglou has addressed Christian Romero's comments following Tottenham's 4-3 loss to Chelsea at the weekend, where the defender appeared to criticise the club’s hierarchy over their transfer policy.
Postecoglou accepted that Romero's outburst wasn't "expressed in the right way", but said the emotion of the result, and the frustration of having to come off early with injury, played a part.
The Argentina international told Spanish broadcaster Telemundo Deportes it was "always the same people responsible" after being questioned over Spurs' perceived lack of squad depth.
Speaking ahead of Spurs' Europa League meeting with Rangers on Thursday, Postecoglou said: "In the context of the day, he was very emotional, he wants to be able to help us and injuries have meant he can't.
"He's a leader of the club and passionate about success, but the way he expressed that probably wasn't the right way. Our challenges are not because of one thing or one person, but success will only happen if we stay united as a group.
"He realises what he said, some things shouldn't be said in public, but we deal with it in our four walls. We deal with it internally.
"I've spoken to Cristian and he's apologised about saying things publicly - he does care but there's a way to do things."
Postecoglou also spoke about the club's current injury crisis, calling it the worse of his managerial career.
